£2.1m Collective Property Auctions Achieve 82% Sale Rate
December 20, 2011
Auctioneers Halls defied the challenging economic climate to achieve an impressive 82 per cent sale rate at the company’s four collective property auctions held in Shrewsbury during 2011.
Twenty-eight of the 34 properties offered by auction were sold successfully for a combined total of £2.1 million.
The properties, located across Shropshire, South Cheshire, North Powys and the Worcestershire border, ranged in value from £600 to £266,000 and included houses and bungalows, agricultural land, woodland and even a former sewage treatment works.
“I would stress that not all property is suitable for sale by auction and it’s important to seek professional advice from our team of experts,” said auctioneer Allen Gittins, a director of Halls. “Agricultural property, renovation projects and property with land are all prime auction candidates.
“Land of all types, from prime pasture and arable land to small areas of woodland, is still keenly sought after because it has always proved to be a safe investment over the years, as it’s not being replaced or made any more!
“Because land has, in agricultural circles, been traditionally sold by auction, prospective purchasers are not put off by the prospect of having to bid for it in a saleroom environment.
“Due to the high auction success rate, this method of selling property ought to be of interest to families seeking to sell estates and those wishing to achieve a quick and certain sale.”
He said the company had received many compliments from vendors and buyers about the collective auctions and the excellent venue at the Greenhous Meadow Stadium, Shrewsbury.
Prospective vendors are asked to seek advice from their local Halls office during January about submitting entries for the first collective property auction of 2012 on Friday, March 23.
