February Collective Auction One of the Best Yet

Auctioneers Halls reported one of their most successful collective auctions of plant and agricultural machinery at Shrewsbury Auction Centre last Friday.
 
Buyers from as far away as Eastern Europe and Ireland were among the bidders at the well attended auction, which featured a special entry of well maintained road sweepers, mowers and auto rakes from a local authority.
 
The day’s top price of £21,600 went to a 2005 JCB telescopic loader. Other leading prices were: £17,000 for a 2005 Valmet A95 tractor, £11,200 for a 1999 Massey Ferguson 8240 tractor, £10,000 for a 2009 Marshall 12 tonne rear discharge spreader, £9,600 for a Steyr 1994 with loader and £7,700 for a Lewis Badger compact digger/tractor.
 
A Nante mini digger made £5,800, a 2004 Thwait one tonne high lift dumper made £4,00, a Mustang skid steer loader made £3,500 and an old JCB 3CX Mk3 sold for £1,250.
 
Star of the buy trailer section was a Richard Weston 16 tonne root crop trailer, which sold for £7,000. Other leading prices were £5,800 for an A. W. 14 tonne silage trailer, £4,500 and £3,700 for Richard Weston 14 tonne trailers, £3,100 for a Chieftain 14 tonne dump trailer, £2,700 for a Marshall eight tonne silage trailer, £2,650 for a Wheatley eight tonne grain trailer,  £2,300 for a Griffiths eight tonne trailer and Ifor Williams livestock trailers sold to a high of £1,800.
 
Harvesting machinery included a local authority rotary mower at £1,500, a PZ 300 haybob at £900 and a Rossi rowing up machine at £560. Cultivation equipment included two McConnell seven-leg shakerators at £3,500 and £3,000, a Kuhn four metre power harrow at £2,100 and a Brown five metre grass harrow a £1,750.
 
Fertiliser broadcasters sold from £100 to £1,250 for a K. R. M. model, a Parmeter post driver made £1,000, a Protec post driver for the front of a mini digger made £900, a set of Goodyear row crop wheels sold for £800 and a silage pusher and silage grab made £550 and £440 respectively.
 
“Good quality and well maintained second hand plant and machinery is very sought after by buyers both within and outside the UK,” said Matt Williams, from Halls.
