LIFETIME’S NEEDLEWORK COLLECTION SELLS FOR £4,000
DECEMBER, 13 2011
A collection of 10 swords valued at up to £2,000 from a Bridgnorth collector have been consigned to an auction of militaria, toys and collectables in Shrewsbury in January.
The swords were discovered at a valuation day held by auctioneers Halls at their Welsh Bridge head office in Shrewsbury.
Included in the collection are a Napoleonic cavalry sword valued at up to £600, a French cuirassier sword, an Anglo Asian sword, together with German, Italian and British infantry and naval swords.
The closing date for entries to the January 11 auction is December 12. Halls holds a weekly free valuation session at the Welsh Bridge on a Monday from 10am to 1pm.
Director Jeremy Lamond said there was strong interest in antique firearms, armour and war medals. “We are particularly keen to hear from people with private collections of militaria that they may wish to be valued by our consultant,” he added.
