Buyers from Slovenia at Shrewsbury Collective Auction

Buyers from as far away as Slovenia were among the bidders at the final bi-monthly plant and agricultural machinery collective auction of the year at Shrewsbury Auction Centre on December 2.
 
Just over 1,200 lots went under the hammer with top price of the day going to a New Holland 8340 tractor, which made £8.200. Other leading prices in the tractors’ section were £3,600 for a Ferguson 550 and £1,450 for a Ferguson 165 in need of renovation.
 
A good selection of plant machinery included a Nifty 120 cherry picker at £2,050, two lighting towers at up to £2,000, a concrete picker for a for or six tonne 360 degree machine at £550, a pop-up platform at £500 and a 0.75 tonne mini dumper at £250.
 
An excellent entry of 45 trailers met with a brisk trade, with prices ranging from £20.  Top prices were £2,680 for a Marshall eight tonne grain trailer, £2,400 for an Ivor Williams flat trailer, £1,600 for an Ivor Williams 12ft stock trailer and £900 for a Bateson flat trailer.
 
Top performers in the equipment section were a Teagle 880 straw chopper at £1,950, a Teagle 505 straw chopper at £1,300, a Twose hedge cutter at £1,200, shear grabs to £1,200, a Reco diet feeder at £1,150, a Lemkin five furrow plough at £1,100, a Bomford hedgecutter at £900 and two 95 mm hose reels and pumps at £700 each.
 
Matt Williams, from Halls, said it had been a successful year of plant and machinery auctions at Shrewsbury and he thanked both vendors and buyers for their support.
 
The next auction is on Friday, February 3, with entries closing on January 25, 2012.
